Building Honey Creek Forest School: A Journey of Love, Dedication, and Nature's Sacrifice

Getting closer to completion!

As I sit down to write this blog post, I am filled with gratitude for the incredible journey that has brought Honey Creek Forest School to life. This endeavor has been a labor of love, dedication, and a deep connection to the farm and natural world around us.

First and foremost, I want to express my appreciation to the trees and land that have made Honey Creek Forest School possible. These majestic beings have sacrificed themselves to provide the materials for our school, and we honor their sacrifice with every plank and beam that now stands proudly on our land. Their presence infuses every corner of our school with a sense of warmth, tranquility, and natural beauty. Additionally, I extend my heartfelt thanks to the land itself, upon which our school now stands. Together, the trees and the land have transformed this space from a sanctuary for wildlife into a welcoming haven for children and our community. Here, amidst the rustling leaves and gentle breezes, everyone feels at home, connected to nature, and welcomed by its comforting embrace.

I also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Gordon, my significant other and biggest supporter, and to his father and valued collaborator, Jim Waggoner, whose hard work, expertise, and unwavering dedication have been instrumental in bringing our vision to life. From sustainably sourcing and milling the timber from our land to meticulously crafting it into the beautiful structure, they have poured their hearts and souls into this project, and their efforts have truly transformed dreams into reality.

As we prepare to open our doors for the 2024-2025 school year, I am filled with excitement and anticipation for the journey that lies ahead. Our school is situated snugly within the embrace of nature, with a private lake, Honey Creek, bamboo forest, streams, gardens, farm fields and meadows, and vast trails just waiting to be explored by our little adventurers.

Every aspect of our school has been thoughtfully designed to foster a deep connection to the natural world and provide children with an immersive learning experience that will inspire them to grow, learn, and thrive.

I am so grateful for the opportunity to embark on this journey with each and every one of you, and I look forward to the adventures that await us at Honey Creek Forest School.
